Whirlybird® Roof Turbines Vents, you know those funny spinning things you see up on the roof tops. These are very common to see on older roofs. But the question our customers often ask is “Do they really work”? The answer is, yes they really do. Most residential homes have some type of attic ventilation. It could be Dormers, Gable End Vents, Ridge Vents, Turtle vents or Turbines Vents. These all work well and are typically installed near the top or the peak of the roof, called the ridge.

To get the best performance, these vents should be within three feet from the ridge. Since hot air rises naturally, having an exit point for the hot air to escape, is a good thing for an attic, but it is only half of the story. For an attic to ventilate properly, it must have a balanced system, with equal amounts of 50% intake and 50% exhaust. The intake should be installed at the soffits or blocking where the walls meet the roof. Whirlybird® Roof Turbine Vents are as easy to install as Turtle vents and are one of the most popular ways remove hot air out of the attic space. Dependable Construction has made a video on how to replace a Turtle vent on a roof. The same steps can be used when doing a Whirlybird® Roof Turbine Vents. Dependable Construction has installed thousands of these for their customers here in Ohio, we prefer the superior construction of the Lomanco® product. Our customers love the Whirlybird® and notice a big difference in the Air Conditioner not running as much. These attic vents let out hot air like other types of vents but when the wind blows it pumps out even more hot air and this happens without using and electricity like a power attic fan. Here are a few other reasons Dependable Construction recommends the Lomanco® Whirlybird®.

  1. Permanently lubricated upper and lower bearings to stop the squeaking.
  2. Tested to withstand 110 MPH winds.
  3. 100 % Rust free construction.
  4. Forever Guarantee.
  5. Air foil curved Vanes with water deflecting edges.
